We host a variety of events at Safe Haven, from trips out to spa nights to our monthly social gatherings. You can see a full list of what we have planned at our events diary.
Family and friends often join us and really appreciate the opportunity to discuss things with other people in a similar situation.
We understand the complexities and anxieties that come with a loved one being transgender or non-binary, especially when it has only just been revealed. Meeting with people who empathise and understand can make all the difference.
If you have not been to one of our events then we please ask that you contact us first so that we can verify who you are. This is to keep our venue safe & secure for our members and visitors in order to make sure that truly remain a “Safe Haven”.
On the first weekend of every month, we host a weekend event at Safe Haven. You can either visit us for a particular day during the weekend, or you can stay with us from Friday until Sunday (there is accommodation provided by the venue and plenty of accommodation in the surrounding area). Our monthly socials are the perfect opportunity to socialise with other trans/non-binary people and allies. It’s also a great opportunity to get away and come and be yourself if you’re not able to “come out” at home.
On Friday nights, we usually have a meal at a privately-booked venue, “Miss Molly’s”, who kindly open their doors just to Safe Haven, our members & our guests. This is followed by pool, karaoke and socialising back at Safe Haven’s main venue, the “Bat Cave”.
During the day on Saturday, we usually have an activity or a workshop booked. Previously we have had Taiko Drumming sessions, aromatherapy, pole dancing, make-up tutorials and much, much more. We have many activities planned for this year, which you can see in our events diary.
On Saturday nights, we have our Party Night. These evenings are free entry and often include live music/entertainment followed by a disco. The venue also offers an evening meal with a range of delicious dishes (which includes vegetarian & vegan options) for £5 a head. The venue also has a bar with drinks (alcoholic & non-alcoholic) available for purchase.
The venue has limited accommodation (first come first serve so please contact us to book). Camping pitches may also be available in the Summer, weather depending.
Usually hosted on the second weekend of every month, we do a monthly spa night at the Penventon Hotel, which offers a swimming pool, a hot tub, a sauna, an infra-red sauna and a gym. Swimming can be challenging for transgender/non-binary people. Safe Haven offer this private event in order to give trans/non-binary people a safe, supportive space to relax, swim and have fun. In order to cover the costs of hiring out this private venue, there is a charge of £10 per person to attend the spa nights. There are also food and drinks (alcoholic & non-alcoholic) available.
