Once a month we organize a Social Weekend, which provides the opportunity for people to come and ‘be themselves’ in a very friendly and supportive environment. Each Social Support Weekend follows a similar format. On Friday evening the Chat and Chill night is a relaxed night to focus on chatting, peer-to-peer support, playing pool, ordering a takeaway, and, if it’s your fancy, have the odd drink or two.
Saturday daytime may involve activities or may just be a time to chill, relax, go out with friends, old or new, go shopping etc. Saturday night, from 19:30, provides the opportunity to ‘let your hair down’, with music provided either by a live band and/or a DJ. Food is usually available, normally hot, in the form of a variety of casseroles and chillis. The food is typically charged at £5.00 per person.
Sunday mornings there will typically be a Full Cornish breakfast available for £5 per person.
There is accommodation on-site in Arkham Gardens where there are a number of purpose built lodges with additional toilet and shower facilities. In the summer months there are camping facilities available, and locally there are a number of non-expensive hotels, Air B&Bs etc. Although all Events at Safe Haven are free, it will be necessary to pay for accommodation.
It is important that accommodation is booked in advance, and this must be done by contacting Paula Swarbrick. See the Send a Message tab on the Contact Us Page on this website.
The venue is the Bat Cave, so called because it contains a vast range of Batman memorabilia, which is wooden clad building large enough to contain a bar, seating area, pool table, dance floor and accommodate a group and/or DJ to provide entertainment.
